Matt Krusko

I feel fortunate to have held interesting, high-level positions in finance, the law, and politics. Because of my diverse background, I am able provide my clients with informed and detailed advice across a wide range of financial topics. Here is an illustrative list of client matters I’ve been involved with over the years:

  • applying for Small Business Administration (“SBA”) loans

  • applying for revolver loans and collateral-backed loans

  • financial planning in the wake of an unexpected death and divorce

  • sale of a multi-branch bank in a neighboring state

  • due diligence in connection with the possible purchase of a small business

  • first-time mortgages and mortgage refinances (residential and commercial)

  • commercial lease renewal reviews

  • charitable gifting strategies (GRATs, CLATs, CRUTs, SLATs)

  • asset allocation advice regarding 529, 403(b) and 401(k) accounts

  • trust creation and administration

  • estate administration

  • life insurance review and renewals

Finance: Prior to founding Golden Bay Advisors, I worked for Bernstein Global Wealth Management and First Republic Bank, building a financial advisory business with nearly $250 million in assets under management and managing that business through the depths of the 2008-2009 financial crisis.

Law: After graduating from law school, I was a litigation attorney with Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP for roughly six years.

Politics: Between college and law school I spent five years working in Congress, first as a congressional aide in the U.S. House of Representatives and then as a congressional aide in the U.S. Senate.

Education & Credentials: B.S., with honors, from Cornell University, and a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law; Editor, Virginia Law Review. Certified Financial Planner (CFP®); Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®)

My proudest accomplishment by far is being the father of two incredible sons: Alex, a cadet at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and a member of the lacrosse team; and Chase, a student at the Williston Northampton School.
